We'd love to hear from you!

A new way to color

Stuff you need:

  • 1 piece of thick paper (card stock or other heavier paper will work fine) OR a coloring book page.
  • Crayons (colors vary depending on your picture)
  • Crayon Sharpener
  • Small paper cups or bowls (one for each color of crayon)
  • Toothpicks
  • White liquid glue
  • A picture to color

What to do:

1.
Either choose a picture from your favorite coloring book or draw one of your own.  You can also create a unique design by just drawing lines and shapes on your page.  We chose to draw and color an apple tree.

2.
Pick the colors of crayons you'd like to use and tear the paper off from the bottom about the width of two fingers.  For our picture we'll use red, green, brown and blue.
Note: You can use different shades of any of the colors in the same cup.  For example, we used 3 or 4 different greens in our 'green' cup.

3.
Sharpen each of the colors until you have a small pile of shavings emptied into each cup.  The amount of each color you need will vary depending on your pictures.  For our picture we needed a LOT of green.

4.
Pick a section of your picture and pour some glue into the area.  Spread the glue with a toothpick.
apply glue
5.
Sprinkle your shavings onto the glue.  You can spread the shavings with your hand, or Shake the paper back and forth gently.

6.
Curl the paper slightly, and tap the paper to pour the shavings that didn't stick back into the cup.
pour extra back
7.
Repeat steps 4-6 until you've completed the whole picture.
8.
Let the glue dry for several hours before handling.
9.
Enjoy your masterpiece!!!
